Ahkahmemok 2nd Annual MMIP Awareness Walk/Run

Join me as we come together for an important cause at the Ahkahmemok 2nd Annual MMIP Awareness Walk/Run. This event aims to shed light on the issue of Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP), which disproportionately affects Indigenous communities.

Taking place on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024, at the Mission Drive Turn Off in Box Elder, this event serves as a platform to raise awareness and advocate for those who have gone missing or been victims of violence.

The statistics are staggering: between 2009 and 2018, 85 percent of Native children reported missing were considered endangered runaways, making them vulnerable to exploitation and harm. Additionally, research shows that Indigenous adults also face high rates of violence, with more than four in five experiencing some form of violence in their lifetime.

By participating in this event, we stand in solidarity with those affected by MMIP and work towards fostering a safer community for all. Together, we can bring attention to this pressing issue and advocate for meaningful change.

The event kicks off at 12 pm and includes a light lunch. For more information, please reach out to organizer Jalene Small at (406) 760-8243. Let’s make a difference together.
